My new camera on its way!

Sat Dec 5, 2009, 5:39 PM
Awaiting my K7 with 18-55 WR lens. I got it for a great price, $1380 AU including the WR lens & delivery. BTW don't use Digitalboo.com it's a known scam site, I almost wasted my money.

So the K7 is a very big step up from my current *istDS & only very slightly more expensive than what I paid in 2006 for my DS. Back then a 1gb card cost about $285 AU!! Based on that pricing a 1TB card would have cost $285,000 hmm. .

Next items on the list & in no particular order are:

Manfrotto 190CXPRO3 tripod with a 488RC2 head
Cokin filter system with ND & ND Grads
Ultra wide angle lens either a Pentax 12-24 f/4, Sigma 10-20, or Tamron 10-24
Remote release
Battery grip D-BG4
Flash

I'm going to shelve my polarising filters for a while. I read recently that a well known Australian photographer refers to them as ruinising filters, I'm starting to see why. In Australia we have naturally deep blue skies & saturated colours, polarising filters seem to throw the white balance way out. Also I just recently discovered that the uneven skies I have been getting in some of my photo's when using polarisers is because in combination with a wide angle lens (that take in a lot of sky) it is almost guaranteed that some of the sky will be deep blue while some will be pale blue (regardless of how careful you are rotating the filter). This is a revelation for me & I can't believe I have never read anything about this problem up until now.

I'll add another entry soon to let you all know how I am going with my new camera & not using polarisers.
